A crumbling, decrepit English seaside town where the slate grey ocean doesn’t even offer a route to a better place, a man (Mageeley) arrives. He has to make a delivery. When he arrives he finds the shop of the man he has come to see is gone, burnt to the ground and man is dead, burned alive.
Mageeley, a war veteran with one arm and a mind full of memories starts to prod the underbelly of this damaged town and finds a place ruled with a rod of iron by Bobbi Bellfield a dominant matriarch who, beneath the flowery blouse and painted smile has a heart as cold as ice. She runs the “family” business, drugs, sex, illegal dog fighting and controls the racism, violence and shady dealings that permeate every day in Saltsea. When Mageeley starts to uncover some of the secrets behind the veneer, the town turns very nasty and even the friendliest face has two sides.
